a bit of white...

I have never been on the "white" band wagon...
preferring a bit of color in my life...
but in this cloudy, rainy, stormy, and seemingly endless overcast weather...
I found myself drifting over to the "white" side...(not to be mistaken for the dark side...)
so I thought I would do a white window...hoping to brighten someone's day that might be walking or driving by and might need a bit of lightness...(is that a word?)
hope your weekend is full of light and happiness...and thanks for stopping by...

favorites...

a dainty lady...
antique baby items...
crowns for a shrek like head?
birds...numbers...graters...oh my!

and antique books...
for a rainy Portland week-end...I suggest SHOPPING!!!!

flowers around the store...no need for water...

this huge oil painting makes me smile every time I look at it...
wood flowers and bouquets of garden claws...
vintage wall paper flower, clock flower, and vintage children's book flower (no water needed)...
and sheet music flowers...got tired of waiting for the sun to come out in Portland...
so "grew" my very own flowers...
have a great day!

new vintage wee things around the store...

a few of the teeny wee items that have come out of storage and in to the store...
antique baby items...
wee folks...
bags of tiny vintage ephemera bundled up in artists bags...
wee little shell buttons...
and even the tiniest metal drawers for organizing tiny little bits...(can't get enough metal, yet again...)
well- off to watch Lee sing...routing for Lee, but I like Crystal, too.
you know what I am talking about- right?

fairy chairs...

above is the back of one of my chairs...
this is the front...
this is the back of chair #2...
and the front.
I have to tell you that if you are not on Elaine's email list, you will surely miss out.
she sends out emails when she is having classes, and she is the best, most creative, lovely hostess in the whole city of Portland!
Bella Flora is located at 4439 NE Fremont, in the charming Beaumont district. I am lucky to have my shop be just 4 doors down from this wonderful artist and studio. She has amazing creations...I have always felt like Alice tumbling in to Wonderland whenever I open the door to her shop/studio. The glass domes full of fairy and mermaid furniture...the garlands and wreathes...the antique dresses and hats...her vast supply of silk ribbon...pussy willow baskets...just one treasure after another...so much...and now her fab husband is creating garden chairs, urns, pots...you name it...this is one creative family!
hope you get a chance to visit, soon!

I have been to fairyland...

the sky...
the table...
the teacher and other student, Nancy...
the legs...the pods...
tomorrow~ the finished fairy chairs~
I have seen fairies today...

rain rain go away...

...there is a bit, a tiny bit...of the sun trying to shine...
Is anyone else tired of the rain in Portland, Oregon? Now, I am not a rain hater...on the contrary...I love rain.
BUT...I have had enough for one week...the massive hail storms...the drenching, drenching rain... the mud puddles, the WIND (2 of my metal garden chairs blew out in to the street last week...)
Sunshine? Where are you?
I am a woman in need of some vitamin D!!!

I can't get enough metal...

recently I bought 20 of these large metal bins...
I just could not leave one behind...
and keys? gotta have them (see that large stack of metal trays in the background?)
metal clipped curtain rings... vintage thread on a metal tray~
even a steel frog...and metal planters...
perhaps there is something missing in my diet???
and these drawers? oooohhhhh...aaahhhh...
just can't get enough metal...

so this is what a week-end feels like...

taking two days off in a row is quite a luxury for me...
anyone that has ever owned their own brick and mortar storefront understands...
it is really a 8 days and nights a week job...
so with two glorious days off, I tried to enjoy all the little things that "home" has to offer...
and it has been wonderful!
hope you are all having a fabulous week...I am off to cook dinner for my boys!

out with the old...in with the new (old) stuff...

this is the side of the garage behind the store...we are opening the garage most week-ends now, with garden and furniture and all sorts of wonder back there...

and in the store there is still the typical (hmmm...strange) mixture of bits and baubles...
along with pottery and wallpaper and flower pots...and plants...
all sorts of bits-black and white photos and letters and cards...for all your vintage collage needs...
somehow I just had to have this huge floral print...and the deer... they are looking for a new home to lounge around in...
and as usual the entry door is covered with all sorts of mismatched items...
this little drop leaf desk is so very adorable...
and the new woman in my life? she is a dress form with a cage around the bottom...(she might be new- not sure of her age but sooooo sweet!)...
and these chairs? FOLDING Victorian chairs (his and hers) in a divine color...
just some of the new items in the store...
hope you can come visit soon!
