I miss the jingle of the bells on the door...

and the smiling customers faces...
and the funny sound the cash register made...
and the freezing cold when I first walked in the door in the morning (ok...this not so much)...
and the waves of the folks that walked their dogs past the window each day...

feeling reflective today cuz yesterday I sold the cash register that we used in the store that we closed...
as I am selling off business related items, I find that the reality of closing the store has finally hit (even though we closed in November...)
it is funny, some times I am elated that we closed...my mall spaces have never been more full...
I have time to cook "real" food as my son calls it...
I have more time with my granddaughter...
I can actually "create"...

but yet I feel this shopkeeper tug...

and I have to remind myself that it was the right thing to do...

the picture?
took it from my back porch as the sun came up this morning...
what a stunning start to a fresh day...
need to keep reminding myself...
a fresh start...

Dear Melanie, I closed my shop doors many years ago and I still miss opening my shop door, dragging out things to the patio area in front of the shop, the customers stopping in to say hi or buy, getting the coffee started. I dream of opening another shop one day. I loved being in the mall too but missed all the customer contact and friendships. Perhaps you will open another little shop one day. Enjoy your bit of free time now and dream of future projects. Warm regards, Carol

Melanie, I sure do miss walking by and stopping in at your shop. I miss the great conversation and welcome feeling I got everytime I walked in the door. I try to take a slightly different route when I walk now, but I know that you are on the road to great things! I can't wait to see what you have in store for your spring sale at your house and I think your booths at Stars are truly unique and inviting! Keep up the great work!
Hope to see you sometime soon!

Fondly,
Janice

If the wonderful sun rise this morning is any indication of your future as a non shop owner...then you did the right thing for now. We can only enjoy the present as the past is past and the future is unknown. Hope to see you soon,
Annette
