Part 2- vintage satin ornaments, cardboard village, red plaid, angels & so much more!

I just love Christmas...and all of the vintage decor that goes with the season. I especially love the satin ornaments in all the many colors, the reds and the greens, and the white angels. And I can't seem to make enough candy canes out of mercury glass garland beads! I hope you get a chance to stop by the Fremont store to check out all of the many goodies...and I will get pics from Sellwood, just as soon as the snow and wonderful winter snow calms down a bit! Feel free to email me if you see something that you can't live without...I can always send it to you!!! 10 shopping days until Christmas!

Christmas in the store part 1 vintage doll parts, shoes, child's tea set

I couldn't resist the vintage doll parts, doll and baby shoes, and child's tea set at the estate sale...just couldn't resist. The only question is...which estate sale??? Since moving, I have found so many items that have been stashed away for my "store"...that I would someday have...and now that I have not just one store, but is like Christmas every time I open a box!!! So... this is just the first of two postings of some of the new (well, vintage) items that are in the Fremont store!
I have also found vintage trim, ephemera, game pieces... and so much more!!! happy holidays!

A quiet blog... loss and still hope...

My blog has been sadly quiet for weeks. Well, this is a time of great sadness for me. Our loss...we have lost our two beloved cats this month. One, is missing in action- the other, lost to cancer just yesterday.
So, in honor of my cats, just a couple of simple pictures of remembrance. May there be lots of catnip in cat heaven for Ruby, and may Barney the tabby be warm and comfy where ever he may be! (and we would love it if he would find his way home!)
More news of the stores later...or tomorrow.
Blessings to all,

more more more vintage vintage vintage

Well, I can't believe that I am blogging 2 days in a row! And...I am finding so many new (well- vintage) items that I didn't even remember having! So...I took more pictures of the store, and how it is evolving...
hope to see you all soon!
by the way, I am sharing the "new" stuff with Sellwood, too! Although now that I am spending so much time in the Fremont store, it is getting tough to want to share!

CHAOS!!!Moving (houses) store...boxes and boxes galore!!!

Wowza... who would have thought that we would have sold our house in 2 weeks, bought a new house, moved in 4 weeks, and, and, opened another store as well. Although I am ready to check in to the funny farm, there is something absolutely exciting about all of this chaos!!!
The wonderful thing about moving is that you find items and purchases that I had long ago forgot the numerous creches that I put in the store. OR the estate sale purchases that just got shoved in to a closet in the 3200 square foot house, never to be seen again (until this last month!).
And, all of my vintage supplies for decoupaging and found object art have been thrown in boxes and moved to the new store. After all, I will be spending a gob of time there, and I figure that I can use the storage area for my baubles and my desk for creating...therefore creating a fun work space at the store. AND...I have so much more than I remember having, so a lot of my vintage bits and baubles will get bagged up for sale!!!
Of course, this is all a work in progress. After all, I am still trying to unpack the 40 or so boxes that I still have left to unpack. I am certain to find so many more treasures in them...and as I do I am certainly going to be filling up both stores with the many treasures that I am finding!!!
One of the pics that I am posting is of one of the basement rooms. Just full of boxes. And I am sure some of them are packed to the top with treasures!!! The other pictures are just some of the treasures that I found that I put in the Fremont store!
Since this house is only 12oo square feet with a big basement, we are purging so many things.
I should be able to fill the stores for a couple of months. at least!

First Day RAINY!!! COLD!!! Fabulous neighbors!!!

Well, my first day is behind me and I feel like I can breathe! Although we still have so much stock to put out, I am happy with our first day. Lots of neighbors came in to buy and see the store...and it is so fun to meet new people. Of course, some of our great regulars came from Sellwood to see us too!
I thought I would add more photos of merch from the store...I took loads of pics for a change.
If you didn't stop by today, I hope that you will swing by soon! And we have so many more vintage items that we will be bringing in...
happy weekend!

OK...I have been tagged...and I guess in the blog world that means I have to tell 7 random things about
1. I love vintage statues of mice...but I can't stand the real ones.
2. I love gnomes...yes, I do.
3. I don't clean toilets (but my husband does and knew this fact BEFORE we were married!)
4. I love thunderstorms.
5. I was an angel as a kid...and a troublemaker in my 20's (just ask my mom!)
6. I met my best friend Gail on the phone first (I worked for Meier and Frank, and got transferred to Eugene where she worked), and thought she would be a 40 year old chubby woman. (she was in her 20's when we finally met, beautiful, and thin!).
7. I don't like chain letters and most email forwards, so even doing this tag thing is weird for me! you know more about me! BUT...I am not going to "tag" anyone else! I rebel at that! (see #7 on the list!)
thanks for reading!

yes- it is the start of a new collection! I posted earlier today that I found this velvet box at a sale around the corner from my house- I forgot about last weeks "find" of the antique velvet photo now I have 2 velvet antique items...and I am on the prowl for a third, so I can officially call it a collection!
any antique velvet out there???
happy hunting!

NEW FREMONT STORE- BEFORE PICTURES are the before pictures of the store at 4419 NE Fremont- I haven't taken the "after" pictures yet, because we aren't done painting!
For starters, the outside will not be orange when I am done with it! We have taken the grates off the walls, and covered over the fuschia back walls. I love the wood floors, but we found some very old linoleum at an estate sale that we are putting down on part of the floor. One of the pieces of linoleum is a children's pattern, and is so very sweet. The other is this wonderful floral design...I just love them!
Will post more pictures soon!

a few more new things

Just a few more of my recent finds...most of them are destined for the store in Sellwood!

Just for today, I thought that I would sleep in...but then my husband ran in to the bedroom, where I lazily opened my eyes and"NO"!!!! He said get up, get your clothes on...there is a sale around the corner and they have "old" things!!! So, I threw some clothes on and ran out the much for a lazy morning!
Anyhoo, here are some pics of my finds- yes- that is an antique velvet box, intact mirror on top and lining the bottom, with an adorable and beautiful label inside the lid. It cost all of 50 cents, and is the start of what I can only imagine to be a "new" collection!!! The buttons are to die for, the ladies gloves with pearls- so cute!!! And the little bitty statues are wonderful! I am sure that some of these items will end up in the Sellwood store, and also in the new store! If you missed the last blog, we are opening a new store on Nov. 1st at 4417 NE Fremont!!! We are so excited, scared and happy that we are opening another store!
And for those of you following my personal life, we have sold our house (knock on wood, I don't have check in hand yet) and are moving out by Oct. 24th!!!! We have found another teeny tiny house not far from the Fremont store, and well, I am up to my neck in boxes, packing, buying for both stores...well, you can imagine the rest!!
will post pics of the new store next week- befores and afters (we are painting right now!)
Enjoy fall!!

It is official! In these crazy times, my husband and I signed another lease for another storefront, this one in the NE Fremont area of shops! Of course, the stock market plunged...the house is on the market...and my life is just sooooooooooo crazy!!! YEAH!)
I don't have pics yet, can't even remember the address (the contract with the info is in the house somewhere!) We will have the keys on the 1st of October, and I will take pics of the empty space and the storefront. We know that we will be painting, spackling, and shopping til we drop!
The Sellwood store is still doing good, with still the nicest landlord in the whole world! Lot of new furniture is headed over there on Wednesday.
I am really thinking that I might want to consign some furniture in the new store, to fill the place up for a while. If interested, please let me know (just respond in the blog!).
I am so excited, I can hardly sleep. I will keep you posted on the Grand Opening date, and how we are progressing.

Halloween house

Yep! I couldn't resist decorating one of John's greenhouses for Halloween! Glitter, ravens, mice, spiders...they are all here! Just thought that I would let you all have a sneak peek before this goes into the store (it will be there Wednesday).
More Halloween to come...
have a spooky day!

more bits and baubles

ok...even more pics of new things. Two vintage shelves that I picked up in Coburg- one black, one cute...and some vintage prints with shabby gold frames...and how about the old fashioned, use your foot to raise the lid wastebasket!!! White with a dark green stripe around the base- wonderful!

More Pictures of All My Favorite Things

I promised more pictures, and here they are! Just a few of the bits and baubles that are in the store right now! More pictures will be added soon!!
